Hi all
I am puzzled here, I have updated my 7D2 to firmware 1.1.1 following the procedures set by Canon. Since that I have lost AF unless the camera is set to automatic then it works fine. I have tried with different lenses, settings etc... without success, I guess the issue is with the firmware. Has anyone experienced this problem or any idea on how to fix it ?

you could try a full re set of the camera it should go back to factory default

+1 ^ to this........as in automatic 'what'. What setting in regard to automatic are you referring???
 
Sorry by automatic I meant the dial mode set to A+ (scene intelligent auto ). Anyway I got it sorted this morning, a good night of sleep helps and a bit more research online, the "metering and AF start" setting was off in "custom controls" probably due to the firmware update. I reset it to AF and now it works fine.
