I had the 50 on my sony a37 and I found it too long so kntend on getting the 35 for the nikon. Coupled with an 85+ it would be a great set up.

35mm on your body, 50mm a bit long for family groups (but good for individual shots)

I have the 50mm and the 35mm. it would always be the 35 as lens of choice* for the above.

*second to tamron 17-50mm f2.8
