thanks :)

nice to have other peoples opinions too :)

i want the 50mm 1.4 next - but just sold my 70-300mm so need another lens lol

You can pick up the superior VR version of that lens for less than that so I would lok for one of those.

if you are hand-holding at 200mm you will see a real benefit to having a *VR* enabled lens...I got mine for about £130

comment - Nikon et al. recommend you turn the VR to OFF if clamped on a tripod cos the lens will *hunt*.......

and... if you get a prime I dont think the 50mm will AF
you need the 35mm 1.8 for AF-S------i think...

what about a 50mm AF-D lots on eBay @ £60 - not difficult to manual focus at that focal length

The af-s version will :p......thats the 50 1.4 G.

As to the 50-200, i'd say go down the 70-300 route as you'll benefit with vr at the longer end of the telephoto, may take a boit longer to save up for but not too long if you go second hand.

from the classified section... end 2009....

before you send ANY money to an on-line camera shop it is *always* best to do a search......some shops say "In Stock" - debit your account and only then order the goods from HK or Japan - so you can wait ages !!

1....check here to see if there are any old threads
2...check Google.......""shopXYZ complaints"
3...check out AV Forums - they have a wealth of info

and I believe - dont use a Debit Card but a Credit Card which has protection for you

^^ thank you :)

i might just use jessops if need be - they have a good reputation.

or even ebay - i have more protection there with paypal that anything tbh
