Right then you lovely TP'ers...

On my camera one of the settings is AI Focus and the other AI Servo (500D), I know I could read all the technical mumbo jumbo in the manual but you guys explain it in nice simple terms (or rather terms I can understand)...

So, question is what's the difference and under which circumstance would each be more beneficial?

AI is used on a more static subject, that may move so that the focus can change, you also get focus confirmation, and wont shoot if focus not locked, servo is basically continuous focus for tracking, i.e birds in flight.

as per Stuart's post! Post 396 Ryan! Bloomin heck..more than me and you only recently joined. Best I get posting!

I've a lot to learn and a lot of questions to ask :D

With photo's it's quality not quantity, unfortunately until I can leanr how to produce that quality my questions are more of the quantity nature :D

There are some who would say that Canon's AI focus doesn't always work as it should, and that you should use single shot if your subject is stationary or AI servo if your subject is moving or is likely to move.

Exactly what section one of the cideo just covered, along with a few other bits, focus lock etc :D

i always use servo for moving and one shot for still, focus never seems to work properly like scarecrow said

+1 for me
When ever I have used AI focus it has always tended to focus on the wrong part of my subject

AI servo on my 450D is so bad I pretend it doesn't exist.
