After some help with storing product images

Hi Guys

I am trying to find some sort of system where i can create a unique bar code or QR code and link it with a product that i have taken a picture of. It is for quality control in a factory. For those who are familiar with the way the photo pass works at Disney World, this is the type of thing we need.

a bar code is generated and added to the product paperwork and goes through to the factory to be made which is linked to the acknowledgement number

When the product is made a photo is taken

The bar code is scanned and the image is saved to that bar code,and doing a wireless transfer to a database

When the acknowledgment order is entered on the data base the images are there

Any help with what i would need or where to source the tech from would be great. Thank you

You seem to be describing a 'goods in & manufacturing process with barcode associated control and auditing.....'

There are others out there but I know these two and especially codeway as being IMO competent to scope your needs. What you need might "off the shelf" but surmise you could need more bespoke?

Seems to me you are talking about a relational data base project not a photo problem. You can link a photo file to any data base using its unique number.
This is more a problem for your company IT expert.

But he was asking for a usage of an associated barcode and yes a 'backend' database and its linkage to the barcode generator & and scanner data capture is broadly my reading of his outline.

Such systems are the bread &butter of the companies such as I suggested who can scope a turnkey system. I never came across a company (customer) who had the in-house IT to do it.........yes they could do the database but the sooner they involve the more specialist services the better.

How much of the system is already in place or is this a green field job? If the system is already in place, the people to talk to are the original suppliers. If the bar code generation and reader already exists, then all you'll need is to display the alphanumeric code in the data entry form for your database, so you store that along with your picture.

If the database is Oracle there's almost certainly a front end out there to do the job.
