Agh...I'm going to kill someone at Orange

So, I had wanted to leave Orange for my mobile broadband, but fell for the old trick of "oh well, we can do a better deal and a better device"

Only problem is that the supposed "better device" doesn't work with my mac. Their "technical support" is appalling and has royally ballsed up my Airport settings to the point where I've phoned "orange loyalty" again and I'm cancelling the whole shooting match.

So, who else has good mobile broadband?! I've heard good things about 3...

anyone else?

Well...I'm impressed.

OK it took 52 minutes to fix, but we got it figured in the end...by someone who knew Mac's and who knew how to fix the problem.

I take it all back. I did go in with the "I'd like to leave orange all together because you sold me a useless item and your customer support is gash" style so maybe that worked.

You may want to look at BT broadband. The router simply plugs in, and works. All you have to do is select the hub from the macs network options, and enter the wireless key. Works fine on both my Macs and PC. No password to get onto the network, and I didn't install their software either.

BT ripped me off royally with regards to my landline...long story, but no chance i'll ever use them again, not even to use a phonebox.

Besides, this is Mobile Broadband not Home Broadband. Home Broadband is with Virgin, lightning fast and easily installed.

Sorry James misread your post

No worries, actually we had Orange Home broadband in our last place and it was also good...as long as you get someone who knows Macs.

End of story is that Orange customer support are great IF you go in with the "I'm leaving if you don't fix this"...I found that Orange Loyalty are the way to go, they can put you through to anyone else in Customer Services and you're treated much better if they know you've been through the loyalty lot.

I use T Mobile, never had any problems with signal, good speeds too.

Sorry, but i like Orange today

Topped up my moby and won a Space Hopper

Just what i need at 51, might give it a go anyway

For mobile broadband then the future is the 3 MiFi I got a few weeks back. It acts like a wireless network so when you turn it on you press a button to activate the wireless and connect to the internet then my MacBook Pro connects to it like it would a normal wireless network.
You can manage the settings yourself so you can change the device wireless name and the access password. I have had my laptop and my iPhone connected to it when I was out of Vodafone 3G coverage and it worked quite well.

So far so good I would say, but I dont pound it for use. Have standard broadband at home so only use it when out and about on the road but I am pleased with it....well worth a look.
