Hi!

some advice required form the aircraft togs and also anyone else who wishes to add their advice..

attending the Portrush Air Show as always this year.......thing is which lens would be best suited..I used my 70-300 last year with various results.....

All replies appreciated as always

Unless you can get close, take your longest lens. I found that using shutter priority worked best for me at Farnborough, set to about 1/1600 for jets and set your ISO to get about f/8. For prop planes and choppers, drop your s/speed to about 1/200 (or lower if you have a steady hand) and drop your ISO to the lowest to get prop/rotor blur.

Micheal,

I will see u there! :) I was atually on the phone to a company today I am going to reserve the 100-400 L, the guy and a lot of people on here said I would need the reach, plus the variable length will be handy. Meet you in Rogues for a quick one

:beer:meet for pint!!:beer: i am up for that....maybe i will reserve a a larger lens also. Where did you reserve yours from.....

I have the 55-200mm lens for my D5000 and at Farnborough it was good, but it could have done with being longer. Was ok for the landing and taking off, but once the planes had some altitude to them they were harder to fill the viewfinder with.

This picture was when the F16 was landing and it wasnt fully zoomed in, and I wasnt at the front either, probably 100ft from the front.
