Ok so I know this is just a glorified webcam affair, but for £39.99 its pretty good.

I have loads of old slides and negatives from my parents house and i just want to digitise them for keeps sake..I dont need super high quality.

Went to Aldi and picked up the 5Megapixel TV6500 this morning and have already processed around 100 negatives.

Its cheep enough to be used on an as and when basis and i can let my friends and relatives use it whenever they want.

Just wanted to let you know its worth the money IMO. :thumbs:

5 Meg at standard resolutoin and 12 Meg at high.

Will post some comparison photos on Wednedsay when I get home.
 
Can you post jpegs at full size? (not resized)

Scanned at native resolution of the scanner preferably :)

surely at just £39 quid it would be quicker just to go and buy one lads ... :)

the scanned pics shown are pretty good really for what it cost but its not pro level ... but neither is the price !

might pop to Aldi tomorrow and get 2 for the kids Xmas pressies..

I cant thank you enough for pointing this out Andy, got one today and then got my parents to dig out my old folder of B&W negs for me.
I found loads of photo's of my late brothers and other family members that I had never gotten around to printing, I had just developed the film and filed the negs.
So this is one happy family right now.

Ok the scanner itself, works fine on win 7 64bit and for the money does a good job, though I found it struggling to cope with sorting out the colour on a few colour slides I threw at it.

I'm hooked now and as I plan shooting more film will have to sort out a higher res' scanner.

B&W film was fine, though I err'd on the side of caution and let it slightly overexpose, as I can pull detail back later in the highlights, but underexposing will give noise and detail problems.

Anyways here's a couple of near 20yr old examples, shot with a Nikon FM if memory serves me right.

They're actually not bad at all....... certainly printable and I'm sure a little PP would work wonders...
 
Ian, this is exactly why I purchased one...memories which I wanted preserved without hi-res super expensive digitising...I am so glad you have had the experience I had for £40.

Cheers Andy, the evening of pleasant discoveries I've had was worth the £40 alone, for mum and dad these images will be priceless.
 
I have purchased many items from ALDI, but have never seen a scanner in my three local shops. I will have to speak to them .
 
They have a video of it on Aldi website LINKY

As for will it work on a Mac the supplied software won't, but I'm sure something like photoshop would recognize it as a scanner.
