OK, so I have a D90 with the 18 - 105 kit lens, a 70 - 300 lens, both with UV filters and being impatient, I have just bought a SB900 flash.
My wife has just asked me what I want her to get me for Christmas and because I know that she won't buy me a GT3 Porsche, I am not really sure what to ask for.
I have thought about a shorter lens, but also fancy a teleconverter, so given that I take pictures of anything and everything, what should I ask for?
 
Ask for the Porsche. She'll be glad to settle for both the lens and teleconverter...
 
Assuming you havn't got one:

a decent tripod or monopod

some filters (ND, polarizing)

a decent bag to keep everything in

I did ask for a Porsche last year, but unfortunately, she couldn't read my hastily scribbled list. At least we have a lovely porch now:)

If it's the teleconverter, should it be 1.4, 1.7 or 2.0?

Correct, ish.
The Nikon TC's won't work but some off brand ones will.
But there's a good reason the Nikon ones don't work, I've never seen an excellent result from a consumer zoom and TC.
