It's a bit of a monster as projects go for me, but since I moved to Northampton in 2008, I set myself the challenge of shooting all the pre 1600 churches in the county in infrared.

Of the 210 I can see using Pevsner's guide, I have so far done 34. Some of the earlier ones were really tricky as I had to use an external R72 filter and a tripod, but since I got my D70 converted, and I usually have one or more other modded cameras, it has been a bit easier.

Here are some of my favourites and two of them are also competition winners at Northamptonshire Natural History Society's "Monopod" trophy. These were for Ecclesiastical subjects in honour of a past president, Mrs Humphries.

1- Brixworth (D70 pre mod, ext R72)

2- Brixworth (D70IR 720 internal mod)

3- Fawsley (D70IR 720) Monopod winner 2011 (some jpg compression artifacts on this one)

A few more today, these are not churches but surrounding "stuff" -

2- St Peters, Northampton, side door. Used Orton effect on this, not too sure about it...

Every one of these shots are to my mind excellent.
Photos like this seem to have that wow factor.

Ive done a few church shots in the past and have never been happy with them. They all seemed flat to me.
After seeing these shots I might have another go, not in infrared though as I would not know how to go about that.

Great set David, most of them fairly local to me so I know Fawsley and Brixworth. I particularly like the Fawsley shot, very nice composition.
