Almost?

I was looking through my pictures when I noticed this one. It nearly turned out quite nice, except for the focus.

I would appreciate any advice on what I'm doing wrong - quite a few shots like this. Although, it was taken when I wasn't quite holding the camera right, corrected that now and it's more stable.

are you focusing manually or Auto?

I'm using Autofocus at the moment, still getting used to my camera.

I think if your going for close up shots like this try and pick foiliage which is perfect, I notice some of the leaves are damaged missing, also a bit of dew makes a massive difference in my opinion.
It woul dbe interesting to see if it was a focus issue or shutter speed induced blur?
What lens are you using?

With a shutter speed of only 1/50 sec you have to have very steady hands to keep it in focus.

I'm mainly using Av Mode still, although I occasionally try full manual.

I was just using the standard lens kit, 18-55mm
