Alternative wall mount for paper rolls

I've got a bit of a dilemma, my shooting area is 10ft wide and I want to use 2.7m background paper rolls, so there's not enough space to use normal lighting stands. All the roll mounts I've seen are designed to be bolted to the back wall, however in my case this is just a stud plasterboard wall and I'm not going to be very sure of its strength to hold a paper (or perhaps in the future, vinyl) roll. So something that can be bolted to the brick walls perpendicular to where the roll is to be hung seems like the best solution, but I can't see anything out there suited for the job.

So my question is two fold, is there a ready to use solution for this mounting problem, or will a DIY solution of something like a shelf support with a vertical rod to hold the support pole in place be required?

plenty of studios just have a scaffolding pole that's the right length, two eyes screwed into the top of the wall, and a rope to hang it
