I'm looking into the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Lens as i'm finding that the kit lens isn't giving me as much zoom as i'd like.

Are there any alternatives to this lens? My budget would ideally be as little as possible!

The various incarnations of Canon's 75-300 are generally recognised to take the top three places in 'World's Worst Lenses'.

You'd be much, much better off with the 55-250. You can pick up a second-hand one with three month's guarantee from MPB for just £140. Much better image quality for an unbelievably low price.
