Yes
anyone ever found that they always only ever wanted that one special lens or camera, then you get it!!! ........ Now...What else can I get!??!

I am finding myself needing to win the lottery to fund my obsession. I am sure many of you are in the same boat!

I feel in terms of kit I have come a long long way in just under a year from starting.....If you asked me if I would have the kit I do now back then I would have just laughed!

Yet still......I find my self wanting more and more......I think I need to learn to be happy with the kit I have, but there are so many nice bits of kit I would love to test and own etc.

So, Learn to love what you have, not what you cant.

Spiel over lol

a golf trolley with pockets for your lenses

Robbo - Know exactly how you feel! I started about 11 months ago and have spent a small fortune on kit so far. There's always a longer lens to be "needed"! :D:D

BTW, how do you get that large Flickr logo as your signature?

OK so the logo is here now \/ but doesn't seem to appear on other posts!! Help!:bang: - Now sorted.

Doesn't matter what hobby you take up it always has the ability to drain every last penny from you and you'll still be wanting something else/better. :(

I've started to get "gadgets" & "accessories" for mine.... ie GPS, remotes, ac adapters etc etc...

 gone thru many a bag & bodies -so now time for the gadgets :$

I almost talked myself into going the other way just a month or two ago.. selling-up a few lenses to get back to the basics of a body (40D) and two primes (30mm, 85mm).. but I just can't bring myself to give-up the UWA and the macro..

I still think it would be a better thing to do from the point of view of disciplining my approach to photography.. but I'm a horder and collector at heart.

Nope - not for me.
The biggest limiting factor to my photography right now is my ability not my kit. I want to eek every last drop out of what I've got and really push its limits before I decide I want to upgrade to something "better".

I'm fairly happy with my EOS setup. A nice mid-range zoom would be handy and a longer prime - 300 f/4L or something.

If I had the cash, I'd get a 135 f/2L and a wide TS-E, but I can live without them.

I'm trying to keep my indulgences to cheap film cameras these days :)

I think the technical term is 'kit envy'!! I always want something else even if I know I don't need it!! I find the best way to get it is too convince yourself too sell the last must have item to fund it!!

 ......That sounds familiar :$

I always want something more and better....

Started off with a D50 with kit lens, then bought a 70-300, then nifty fifty, then 17-70...

After that lot, recently purchased a D90, and a 24-70 2.8 of the Sigma variety as i can't afford the Nikon version.....

Next on my hit list is the 70-200 (sigma) with the hope of one day moving over to Nikon glass......will this ever end? :(

Nope. I'm perfectly happy with everything I have!! Haven't bought anything in the last 3/4 months. Apart from a fed-2, a pentax spotmatic, a 55mm helios, a second flash, some snoots, a home studio kit... oh crap hang on a minute...

Mind you, if I did have the cash right now, I'd be more tempted by an m4/3 setup or the Fuji X100 to supplement my 5D than anything else.

Actually this has just come home to me over the last few days.

I was really gung ho about getting a better camera (5Dmk2) but having decided to try another pro type camera with grip etc I found myself struggling to lift it and it tired me so much the best I have been able to manage since has been my 500D and the nifty.

So I wont be going the usual upgrade route, I will stick with what I have and though I may upgrade the odd lens it has ceased to be as important as it was.

I'm afraid your suffering from agophotoitis, there no known cure because regardles of how much kit you buy theres always that brand new must have something or other. Sadly this.... errr illness is becoming more common since digital cameras caused it's spread. I'm a sufferer myself. ;)

I had this, but it seems to be wearing off now. Once I get my 85mm I have a feeling I will be entirely content with my kit. My "kit" and "stuff I use" could be considered to be two different things though :help: - just check my kit bag :|

We all get GAS sometimes though.

There is a difference between wanting more kit and getting more kit. The stopper in the middle is the wife...:gag:

Im learning to extend my kit futher - take the 50mm, just got a reversing ring so i dipping my toe in the macro world. I would love a macro lens though...

Im also spending alot more time looking at DIY stuff - the welding glass for example. Cheaper than an ND filter set.

Always want something else, I have my perfect kit in mind but will never be able to achieve. I'm slowly realizing that it's about taking photos not what kit you have (but it's a constant internal battle)

I don't think I want everything just things that do what I want to do well! I am happy with my 50mm f1.8, 70-200 f4, 100mm macro and my 1.4tc. I know that I want a better normal zoom as my 18-50 just isn't quite right and that I don't have the reach for the bird photography I enjoy. I also want a flash with more control than my old 420ex. Beyond that it would be extrememly frivelous rather than just a bit!

It is par for the course with any hobby I think - I have the same issue on my other hobby Triathlon. It just gets silly when folk are spending 7k on a bike that makes them go from 240th place to 235th. BUT, if you get enjoyment out of it then that's what it's there for.

Been there and done that, now just happy knowing the kit i have i can use to its full potential and the results prevent me from wanting more.

Although I love photography, I just can't justify spending big. I have a basic camera two cheap lenses, tripod and bag. If or when my skills merit it I will try to upgrade but for now I'll have to stick with what I have. It doesn't stop me making a wish list though. ;)

Not necessarily "better", but different for me. I started on landscapes but then bought a macro lens and loved it. I just couldn't have achieved the same results with the landscape lens.

 Agree with you there. Different is good.
That's why I want to find the limits of what I have and decide what kit I need to plug the gaps . . . rather than just collecting pretty shiny stuff

Better is a relative thing, and where I am right now I don't think that better (i.e. more expensive, higher quality stuff) will necessarily make me a better photographer.
