OK,

For the "everyday" DSLR I have a K5 and a variety of sigma lenses to cover 10-400mm, so am sorted there. More filters than I can shake a stick at, and a bag of flashes and "stuff."

then there is the backup K7 - basically a K5 with 14 mp instead of 16 mp and a few minor other differences. (ISO being the main one) That's there as a spare body for when I second at weddings, as much easier to use 2 cameras than faff around lens changing.

However whilst in the car, it's easy enough to bung a bag in the boot, sometimes I just want something quick and handy and to be honest a phone camera doesn't cut it, other than spotting stupid things in Tescos such as "£1.49 each, any 2 for £4" for uploading to bookspace....

So am seriously considering something like one of these.... just to have in a pocket, so always a "decent(ish)" camera to hand, when I cannot be bothered to carry around half a bootful of gear.

Given the bag is 100% pentax at the moment, I am not interested in a canon this, a nikon whatever of a whojifujiwhotsit........ Just trying to justify the expense..... and wondering if i am barking mad or if it will get used....
 
It will get used. I'd still get a panasonic something instead though :)

Have there been occasions when you've not wanted to take the DSLR with you and then you could have done with a camera ?

Have there been times when you could have done with something more discrete than a DSLR ?

If not, then no it's not going to get used, if yes then I'd financiers allow, go for it
 
I think the important thing to realise is that it's not a Q series. As such you've saved hundreds, well done.

Now, seeing as how you've been so thrifty lately why not treat yourself to a new lens for your k5 as well?

picking one up tomorrow.....
 
mind changed. We (better half) now has a panny lumix....... TZ8 for £99...
