How much memory have you got in your MacBook, and have you applied the
2.1.2 Update?
It was a bit flakey on my MB to begin with, but after upgrading to 2Gb memory and the above patch, I don't have too many problems with it now.
I have 2GB RAM on my 2.1GHz MacBook; and yes Aperture is version 2.1.2 that's installed on my machine.
Thanks for the suggestion, I am guessing that maybe the size of my library is what's causing the problem. That, or that I am not using a very efficient archiving method.
Eitherway, I am not too concerned with the speed right now .. I am about to order the new 17" MacBook Pro., which I hope will be fast enough
Very true, but seeing that I have no one to pass this on to (which I did with my license of Lightroom 1), I was looking to see if I could sell this. If so, then I was going to post the Sale here. Now, I wouldn't want to be posting a "For Sale" for an item that I have no right to sell. Hence why I've brought up the subject.
Hmmm. Yes you are!
I suspect that he hasnt bought the software. He has bough a non-transferable licence to use it.
Sure, the reality is that he could sell it or 'give it away', but that would be in breech of the licence that he agreed and probably all those new copyright laws that pile up all over the place.
It is very rare for software itself to be sold these days. What is sold is the right to use. Just like all those bods who 'sell' their images.
I bought this application, now whatever that means in a legal term (did I buy the license to use it, the license to install it .. ) whatever .
It's a full version, but under the Student discount via the Apple & University Campus agreement, where the discount is
a lot bigger than the normal student discount you could get from the Apple store (the student discount at the Apple store only gives you 10% off).
Case here, Aperture retails for just about £110, for students via an Apple store it's about £100; through the Apple & Campus agreement (you have to log into Apple's site through a proxy of an Apple recognised academic institution, via your student ID), doing it this way Aperture comes at about £55. That's a good 50% discount.
Apparently, it's this that's causing me the problems. Had I bought it from a store then I would have been able to pass it on; but because of the scheme under which I bough it, it seems that I cannot do anything with this if I no longer want it.
