Yes
I'm a pretty hard Nikon fan - though I do like other makes compacts/hybrids, but for DSLRs, Nikon(and Pentax!) rule. Tried a couple of Canon's in the past(400D and 450D) and just hated them! So, why do I then spend over 3/4 of whats in my bank account on a Canon 30D, 18-55, and 100-300?:thinking::help:

Doc, fetch the straighjacket!!!!

because
if anybody can canon can

Michael's got it correct, and for the price I got it for, I'm eager to try out Canon enthusiast, as I have only ever tried the entry level and I pay love the 30D! C'mon postie, I can't wait!!

hmm, even I'm not that daft :p

oh nooooooooooooo !!

your dreams lay in tatters ...:'(

quote from sig
""In my dreams! Nikon D3s, Nikon D300s, Nikon D5000, Nikon 17-55, Nikon 70-300 VR, Nikon 400 2.8, Nikon 135, Nikon Flashgun, Leica M9, Leica Digilux 4, Apple MacBook Pro, iPhone 3Gs, and a flipping good tripod!""

:nikon:

I know.. :'( but if I can't get on with it I will sell to my brother (who's looking for a Canon) and stay with Nikon. In my heart, I'm a Nikon thru and thru....just easily swayed by a good price!

Its arrived....man its good...still has that Canon softness, compared to my pin sharp D70s... still love the af and 5fps. Ace. Man, this is getting stivky. I WANT it...but so does my brother...I'm offering him a good deal on my D70s...help what do I do??? :'(

Ah well. I shot Nikon (F2 and FM) for a long time - still do, occasionally - but I couldn't afford a D200 or a D300 when I wanted a DSLR, and I didn't like the small, entry level, bodies. My legacy glass wasn't a deal breaker and I bought a 30D/17-85mm kit for a sweetheart price after it was discontinued. This was in South Africa, and it cost about a third of what I would have had to pay for a Nikon body only.

The camera is excellent, and I've added a flash, but nothing else because I'll probably go back to Nikon when I can afford it. No particularly logical reason, we just go back a long way and I like them.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated:bat::D

Yeah, thats kind of like me...like I'd love a D300s, but no way can I afford 1. And canon's equiv, the 50D isn't that much different to the 30D - no video etc. Then again, it is soft on the LCD compared to the D70s....but its o much speedier. Damn I feel guilty as I kinda promised my brother he could have it..:shake::help:

The truth of the matter is that Canon and Nikon both make good cameras and it's all down to what feels best in the hands.

The 30D is so much better to hold than the 400D and 450D you tried before. You are going to love it!

I've got the 1D and the 1000D, about as far from each other in build quality you can get in the Canon dSLR range, but with a grip the 1000D still feels decent enough in the hands and a lot lighter than the 1D.

Congrats on the purchase though, get yourself some L glass too and have fun.

Yeah definitely the nicest Canon I've tried...though I don'tk think its any better build quality than the 450D I tried - same grip, and the mag alloy on the 30D, well it just feels like a 450D! Not complaining, I'm just trying to convince my rugged camera loving brother that he won't want it. Scott, it ill need to be a good offer! try me...
