Yes
One for the Canon guys - My first dslr was a 400d, when I was ready to upgrade it was between the 50d and a used very low actuation (1427) 1dmk11n. I opted for the 1d as it felt really nice to hold, was a pro body and like new. I had a few doubts going from the 10.1 mega pixels down to 8.2 but thought although lower the overall unit would be much better. A work colleague has been looking through my flickr photostream which is mostly 400d stuff and has said the 400d photos are much better than the 1d. I think I can kinda see where he is coming from as I seem to have more issues nailing the focus on the 1d, or is it that there are more 400d photos. I do photography as a hobby to chill out after work but I'm thinking I maybe made the wrong choice?????

Post some examples :)

As fly said, would be nice to see some examples.

Although the camera shouldnt really be the issue. I could take photos just as good on my D100 as i can my 1ds MkIII, just only difference was one was 6mpx and other 21mpx.

Are you using the same lenses?

with the 400d I had the kit lens and towards the end of ownership a 70-200L f4, I also had the ocassional use of a 24-70L. When I got the 1d I had the 70-200 and couldn't stretch to a 24-70L so bought a Sigma 24-70f2.8 as a walkabout lens. This wasn't particularly sharp so has been back to Japan for callibration. I don't have any specific shots to compare as my work colleague was general looking through flickr

Maybe I'm just an L snob using a Sigma?
any comments are appreciated good or bad as you guys give me something to aspire to

Off topic a bit, noticed you live in Cumbria. So jelous! Love that place, one of my all time favorite locations :) Not just a town but the whole of it!

If i had to pick one location, i love Derwent Waters !

I am ashamed to say that it is a beautiful place that we take for granted, i really should get out more and appreciate it.

If I were being brutally honest, I think you need to work on your composition, use of light and perhaps also being more selective about what you upload to Flickr.

I've a feeling that it's not your kit that's holding you back.

All help is appreciated, if it makes me a better photographer
