Well, on ModelMayhem I have a casting call for models, and some person who is apparently an owner of a new modelling agency contacted me with this:

Hi i have some great models on my website
But some of the models need updating their photos , as some are basically new to this , and pics are quite bad !
So i know my models would appreciate photographes using them for TFP
If this is something you would be interested indoing for us please have a look at our website

Brilliant, so I check out the site and the models are really good. So me being myself I start second guessing and denying that this is real (not to be rude but no man or woman looks this beautiful where im from). Also i looked on their MM account and the people on their, resemble none of the people on this site, and its basically just regular looking people.

But my casting was for TF* so they can't really do me out of money can they?
Is this actually legit? or will i be pawned off with ugly models.

Anyone else had an experience with this?

As long as you licence the photos for portofilio use only, you'll be fine.

You win as you get a varied selection of models to shoot, the agency wins becuase the models will have their portfolios updated.

Me being the cynical person that I am :)
The text above seems quite badly worded (spelling and grammar).
Looking at the site the only thing that would worry me is them sending a model to a shoot with you and then invoicing you for £600 for the day (their maximum quoted day rate).

Also, when you look at the Rates page it only lists from Babies 0-3 through to Teenagers although on the third set of three shots on their home page they show two models that are definitely beyond their teenage years. There are also plenty in their "Character" section that look a little older.

But as I say I am cynical and trust no-one. As long as the terms are set out in advance it could be advantageous for both parties.

On their MM:

"the old website is up at present but new one which is being worked on below weba address will be running by jan 08"

Spelling in the message on MM.
Brand new web address.
No Beau-Belle Models on CH register despite having a 'director'.

It's only a faint whiff and it's probably legit but something doesn't sit right.

May be nothing, but I've also never known an agency to host pics of the models with the photographer's signature on them.

Mate, as long as they know what TFP means, you'll be fine.

Might be worth rewording the enquiry slightly (idiot proof)

If there's any top totty down there, give me a shout and i'll assist for free ;)

New Agency, web site registered in 2006?

and they being an agency are suggesting you photograph models on a TF basis.

Right how I see it.
Your doing the portfolio for their models for free, all be it cleverly worded and flattering, they have not said which models or asking you to choose any model (though ask first could be wrong).
And effectively by doing the portfolio for free you are giving them something to sell the model on.

there's a heavy twitch in my gut that says Agency's Make Money From Models, what's in it for them?

OR I could just be a suspicious crank. :suspect:

Have you approached a MM admin regarding this? I'm sure they might be quite interested and they're usually quite industry savvy regarding legit agencies.

Just don't accept any invites to go do the shoot in Nigeria ;)

Seriously though. The site was registered 4 years ago and yet he's looking for TFP for his models? Surely his models would be really experienced by now. Why is he managing the models images anyway. He would provide a modelling agency, but it's the model's responsibility to ensure she/he has an adequate portfolio.

Steer clear is my gut feel.
