I just got me filters etc from teamwork photo today.I have a Sigma 24-70 EX DG Macro which has the 82mm filter size. I bought a wide angle holder and an 82mm adaptor to fit. I cant see how the adaptor fits on the end of the lens. The adptor again is the wide angle one but doesnt have a thread to screw on the end of the lens...So how does do it...all items are Hitech..

The adapter ring screws into the filter thread. The holder either slides or clips onto the adapter. Which part isn't playing ball?
 
Its the adaptor ring, it doesnt have a screw thread on it to screw into my lens like my CP ( round filter ) etc.

The filter holder and adaptor fit together fine but they just dont fit on the end of my lens--lens is 82mm and the adaptor is 82mm and all my round filters are 82mm and they screw in fine..

I believe that there are two versions of the 82mm Wide Angle adaptor and the older one won't work on all lenses as the channel around the thread is too narrow to take the thickness of the lens barrel. I understand that some are annotated with "WA" and some with "SWA"...."SWA" being the newer ones. I remember many people had this issue when the TS-E24MkII arrived on the scene.

Edit....you are trying it the right way around?....it's not quite the same way of fitting as a normal adaptor in that it appears to fit over the lens barrel with the thread concealed in the slot

I've just found the old thread on FM where this is detailed. The channel in the later one is 3mm wide as opposed to 2mm in the older version. I'm assuming that there is no thread in the channel on yours whatever size it is.....maybe a manufacturing error then.

Dont know id this helps but the adaptor ring doesnt even get close to the threaded area that my round filters go into. It would sit nearer the area where the lens hood would attach. That would explain it if it had even a bit of threead to attach but it doesnt and i have checked the adaptor ring over. I have emailed teamworkphoto about this..
 
So its just a plain flat bit of metal?

Not much use to anyone!

I'm pretty certain that half of it is missing Mark. It would be difficult to make the wide adapter in one piece so I would expect that it's two pieces bonded together....or not in your case.

Have a look at page 8 (lower right side)...zoom in and you'll see the cross section of the assembly and the bonded (?) part with the threaded ring.....missing from yours, I suspect.

Sorry Mark....post crossed. I believed (wrongly it seems from what you have just written) that both systems used identical adaptors.

Cheers Bob, im only going by the images i have seen on the internet of both systems.

Surelt someone has a Hitech wide angle adaptor as its quite a common system to use.

Hopefully teamwork photo will reply to my mail and confirm if its correct or not but i still cant see a way to fit it as it has no part which goes to the threaded part of my lens.

Is the diameter of that small rim in your 3rd pic (inboard of the '82mm' mark) exactly 82mm? If not there's probably another piece that you haven't got, as Bob says.

If it is 82mm, maybe they've sent you one that hasn't had the last stage of machining (i.e. cutting the thread). Or they've accidentally machined the thread off.
