am i mad to sell my 35 to get a 17-50

right i have a Nikon D5000 and i have the std kit lens and the 35mm 1.8, at 1st i was looking at getting a tamron 17-50 or the sigma 17-70, but know after looking I've been drawn towards the sigma 17-50, but this is £460 and quite expensive and to get it ill have to sell my nikon 35mm 1.8,


so is it mad, i could do with having 1 lens but is the sigma any where as good as the 35mm???

I can't offer any help as to how the sigma 17-50 compares with the nikon 35 as I don't possess the sigma!

With the kit lens ( 18-55 I presume), you already have the differing focal lengths but obviously not the small aperture.

Really it depends how important the 2 stops are at 50mm to you.

Maybe it would be a better and much cheaper idea to hold onto the nikon 1.8 and simply adjust the focal length with your feet.....again it depends on what and where you shoot as to wether this is a feasible option!

I wouldn't say that you're mad, i would give it more thought though before taking the plunge so that you don't have regrets.
