Hi,

Am i right in thinking that anything upto 35mm focal length will give a wide angle? (in full frame terms)

As in aps-c normally they are 12-24 which is eqivalent to 18-36

Anything after will be a telephoto?

If so a Nikon 17-35mm would be a brill wide for a nikon d700 yes?

Also would a 28-70 f2.8 be a good wedding lens? (thinking it has wide to telephoto so could use the wide to get all the peopl in the shot and telephoto to zoom in)

It's a little disconcerting that you are asking basic questions like this, and then talking about shooting wedding... :thinking:

In full frame terms, and using general parlance as opposed to strictly technical speak, up to 35mm is considered wide angle, 35-70 or so might be called standard zoom, and 85 upwards is telephoto.

Divide by crop factor to get the APS-C equivalents.

Not at all consdering i dont plan on doing any for a while yet. No harm in buying the right kit first time though hey:shrug:

no harm whatsoever in buying the best kit you can afford, but there are many other types of photography besides weddings, and its worth getting a good grounding before you think about a wedding. They're hot topics round here to so mentioning them can draw a strong response

Are they hot as people think they are easy to do?

I certainly dont and thats why i am booking a wedding course at pauls studios. Then going to try and get some experience as a wedding tog assistant.

a hot topic - yes just look around the forums.

easy to do - no. You need to be alot of things diplomat, marriage counseller, businessman, great organisation skills etc etc, as well as a photographer and not fouling up in a very high pressure environment.

yeah i can imagine. oh well its something to aspire to surely?

If i was a wedding tog on here i would be proud of it , not flame someone else for aspiring to be as good?

That's not what happens. If you look at (for example) Radiohead and Spxxx's posts they get a hard time for giving some very sensible advice - they certainly don't flame but take alot of flak for their advice and opinions. Anyway have a look round to see what I mean. I don't want this to turn into another wedding bun fight
