Am I the only one who ended up buying a Sony QX100...?

Last year I picked up a QX10 to have a try and see how well it worked and whether I could put it to good use (well I was looking for excuses to buy a new toy)! I was pleasantly surprised by the results using the camera (though the operation is a bit laggy) and then accidental found myself buying a QX100.

The QX100 is an odd beast as it is far to chunky to use on the front of the phone, but the photos it can deliver are superb. I have found it really useful for taking shots in awkward spots (I make custom Lego building and taking shots of the insides is so much easier with this than any other camera I have used). I know that it is has been around for sometime now but haven't seen any talk on here about it (beyond an initial thread when announced) so wondered if anyone else was using this little cameras.

Having used it on an iPhone and an Android I find the set up so much easier on Android especially on a phone with NFC.

I looked at these a few times and really liked the idea of it but never did find any shop which could show me how it worked and what the results would be like - most just told me that it was a Sony thing and only really worked with Sony smartphones - I never did think that that bit was correct.
I would, however be interested to see what you have achieved with it. Also must it use NFC or can iPhone or Android communicate with it in other ways?
Also, are photos stored on the QX or in the smartphone?

You don't have to use NFC with it but it is definitely the quickest and easiest way of connecting. If you don't have NFC you can connect with wifi but this is more fiddly, especially on an iPhone. The camera has a memory card where the photos are stored but you can also store a full res or 2mp preview to the phone. I have tended to use it for silly stuff (photographing Lego creations) and family stuff but will try to dig out some sample shots.

Thank you for the info. I have to confess that I would want to use an iPhone (6 Plus so with NFC) so NFC might be the way to go. I always thought that the QX series was a good idea so it is interesting that you have picked up on it.
