No
I recently sold a Sigma Teleconverter on ebay (Nikon version) and just got some neutral feedback off the seller saying that my auction lacked more information and that he bought the wrong one!

I contacted him to remove the feedback which he didnt, but it turns out he bought it expecting it work with non sigma lenses, now to be honest do i really have to go to the lengths of adding things like:

This Ford Mondeo window will only fit a Ford Mondeo and not anything else please only buy if you want to fit it to a Ford Mondeo that is this year **** and looks the same as this one in the picture etc etc.????

Do people really not have any sense anymore?

i would have offered him a refund but he didnt contact me about it, which i found annoying anyhow, looking at his listing later he sold it on again the for the same money so got his money back

I wouldn't have assumed that everyone would know your Sigma TC wouldn't work with non-Sigma lenses. I didn't know this myself and would have assumed it would fit my Nikon lenses (although I would have probably asked the question).

When posting ads on eBay, I always attend to the small details, just so the buyer is aware of all the facts and to avoid instances like yours.

Neutral feedback is nothing to worry about anyway.

Yes clearly stated NIKON FIT in auction and title, and as i said i cant offer refund cos seller didnt ask and sold on and got same money back for it.

I'm a bit thick, so clear this up for me will you please?

This Sigma TC fits Nikon cameras but only allows Sigma lenses (not Nikon's own lenses) to be fitted?

Did you leave FB for them - you can also leave FB to the FB that they have left you....

You should have brought it back from him & returned the gesture :whistling:

To be honest I wouldn't have known that it would only work with certian lenes but I would have done my homework before putting in a bid.

I'd reply to his feedback along those lines surley it's up to the other person to buy something that works with his setup and not your fault if you sell him something that doesn't

When I sell on ebay now, I always add "sold as seen & as described" highlighted in red - due to some people like that... I also add it to the additional checkout at the end of the page.. So if they do have a complaint about something its stamped almost everywhere...

sold on and got same money back for it.

He would have lost out - ebay's & paypal fees... Then again you have made your money & still kept all +ve FB - Neutral doesn't add nor take away...

The buyer should have known what he was buying, your description of the item was probably fine, its up to the buyer to research what he wants in my opinion. Too many buyers now are tryng it on with "not as described" incidents trying to get partial refunds etc. When they goto dispute the seller will lose in 95% of the times. I found this out after I had a dodgy buyer, went to ebay forums for advice and i was amazed at how many times it happens. I only sell on there now as a last resort. (The fees are getting stupid as well)

Sigma's teleconverters don't even work on all of their own lenses... even DG ones!

I have a 1.4x converter which works fine on my 70-200mm f2.8 but won't work on my OH's 70-300mm APO DG and neither will it work on my 24-105mm F4L either ('cos of the baffle).

At least you didn't get a negative out of it... I'd be angry too but there's nowt as queer as folk! ;)

This is exactly the reason to write very detailed descriptions! If you expect all your buyers to know it all, when it's apparent that they sometimes don't, you're bound to get exactly the problem the OP had.

It wouldn't have been a great hardship for the OP simply to mention the fact that his TC only fitted Sigma lenses would it?

I had someone buy a stereo from me (collection), then left me neg feedback 5 weeks later because it was apparently damaged!

If you'd have made your listing idiot proof ebay would have simply found you a better idiot!

I try to make my listings idiot proof. Maybe I've just been lucky so far ;)

anyone looking to spend in the region of £200 for a piece of camera equpment should know what hes looking for, google isn't far from ebay! If hed bought it from the high street and took it home, then realised hed bought the wrong one whos fault is it? certainly not the retailers.

Too true...

The thing I find with ebay is that its aimed & infavor at the buyer & not the seller... 2 years ago I sold a Nikon 55-200 vr lens on ebay, went an posted it, came back to find an email saying dont post it - ebay/paypal...

Emailed them the tracking (special delivery) reference which was pointless as they refunded the buyer his £120.00 to a so called "fraudulant sale" - I was then out of pocket the £120.00 & also a 4mth old 55-200mm VR...

Tried to get something sorted but neither ebay or paypal wanted to know - I followed all the :rules: to their requirements & got told that there was nothing they could do as it was against the "data protection act" .... what a load of dogs dangles - now when I sell full checks are made of the prospective buyer - phone calls etc - all feedback - their inside leg measurements :bonk:

All true, but you're missing the point. Any buyer could leave you a neutral or even a neg if they feel you didn't inform them of an important detail. He might be a complete muppet, but it's irrelevant; you still have that neg against your name.

This also applies to the Canon extenders - they only work on a few of the higher quality lenses (usually L glass).

Yeah.. That is rather annoying, you should have listed it here then that prob wouldn't have happned :) BTW did you offer him a refund?

trade it back....it will pay off in the long run and give you better vibes..its only money
