AM:PM (or Before work/After work)

IF you print at home, you could take a reference print of the before shot, unless the project is supposed to be on the same day! If that's the case, a phone shot of your feet, with relevant street furniture showing could help.

Many years ago, I did a similar thing but of the same landscape through the year. I used a notch in the tarmac of the layby as a datum for the tripod and a radio/TV mast on the horizon as a centre point to get the same framing. Using a 50mm prime kept the perspective the same!

With all the flipping graffiti every where, i doubt the would be any complaints about a small spot of highway marking spray. If you over complicated it they might think its a gas board marking or something.
 
I forgot I'd taken these a few years back.

Multi-shot panoramas of Greater London House - where I worked from 2020 to 2024

AM version was taken with a 5D Classic (wish I'd never sold it) and says it was at 24mm, so was either my old Tamron 24-70 or a Canon L.
PM version was a 5D3 and also at 24mm. By which time it would have been the Canon 24-70.

Don't have the RAWs anymore, so no idea how many photos made them up, but I know I was there a while.

St Paul's from Thames Beach.

When the tide goes out it reveals the old Barge House pier. But this is the first time I've noticed it leave behind any water. Makes for an interesting composition.

Not quite so stark a contrast between before/after now the clocks have gone forward.

I have thought about producing one of those 'photobooks' for myself.

I've started looking into a website - thinking maybe some of these could be sold as diptychs.

London looks much better at night doesn't it. I also did a mini 'Before & After' project a while back - but not to this degree. Takes a lot of dedication - keep going. Like others, it feels like a book here. I think I also prefer the non B&W daytime images as they are more genuine comparisons without the additional processing / changes introduced by the B&W conversion. Or maybe try some B&W day and B&W night comparisons as well?

I hear you on that. What I would say is that I very often found a night shot I liked, then tried to take the morning shot to use as well. But as I work on the South Bank, which is almost exactly east-West, walking to work is directly into the sun and walking back is also directly into the setting sun. So at least one shot could be slightly compromised.

It can be quite hard to get decent contrast on a lot of these - especially in colour.

So I took the decision to try and get the best shot I could under those conditions. And it's a bit of a cheat code to make shots B&W to rescue them...

The Old Barge House Stairs (not original obvs)

Barge House on London's South Bank originates from the early Tudor period when the site was used to house the sovereign's royal state barges. These modern stairs lead down to the old causeway - also probably not Tudor.

It's a really good idea.

I'd like to do something similar, unfortunately, I commute from a small town to my office in an even smaller town where walking around at 7am with a camera would probably result in me ending up in all the local Facebook gossip groups!
