Hello everyone,
I just got my first SSD yesterday, the Kingston SSDNow V-Series SNV125-S2BD, 2.5" 64GB SATA II (MLC) and I've noticed that it's not particularly fast when writing small files. I've looked around and found two solutions that work well and are easy to install (and maintain):
1. Windows SteadyState (guide here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47183)
2. FlashFire (it seems it used to be called zFlashPoint, website: http://flashfire.org/ )
To boost performance with SteadyState, you have to use the drive protection feature, which works in a way that requires a commit operation upon reboot and a change of handling Windows updates - that's the most annoying part of using it - you can't really select which updates you want and which not, that's nice to have, sometimes. That lead me to removing SteadyState.
FlashFire uses 32MB of RAM (for now) to cache writes of small files and it works very well for me and I've found out it speed up ordinary HDDs as well, unlike Windows SteadyState. Right now, it can enhance performance of only one drive.

So far, I'm quite happy as it seems to have made the system even a bit snappier than it was without it and writes of smaller files are indeed noticeably faster.
