I do too - the original was incredibly washed out - these low contrast scenes are - added in a lot of blacks to bring it out - but can always add in more

Agreed, perhaps a little boost to the whites too for my taste

Both are good. I think too much contrast would spoil them, but a bit of playing with them can do no harm.

I did try and didn't like what I saw - some artefacts etc started to appear at close viewing - there was a reason I did them like this

The second image works best for me. A problem with the first is that the clouds have quite a bit of texture, and it prevents the mountain standing out enough. In the second the additional information of the 2 sections of the peaks gives more visual cues and lets the midn interpret the picture more easily.

I like the 2nd one. I feel the 1st one would look better as a letterbox or square as there's a lot of sky currently and only a little of the mountain. Lovely captures though, very atmospheric.

Another vote for #2...really nice. #1 is just a little too minimalistic for me but #2 shows just enough to give an idea of the 'bigger picture'.
