I have a jessops add360 flash for my 1d mk2 but I've had a couple of occasions where it didn't fire so I'm looking for a replacement and wondered what would be a suitable next step for about £90?

Not familiar with the Jessops one that you have but you might want to check out the Yongnuo range of Speedlights. They are excellent value for money and very reliable. £90 budget will buy you an all singing and dancing TTL jobbie - if thats what you want.

TBH I`m not a fan of flash photography mainly because I`m not too good at it so one that does it all for me that suits me, one issue is taking shots in low light where the camera is hunting for focus

You can get a Nissin Di622 MkII for around your budget. I've got 2 of the Di866's now but used to have a Di622 MkI which wasn't compatible with the newer bodies. Maybe have a look for Nissin on Google and see if the MkI is compatible, there was one in the classifieds for arounf £35 IIRC not too long ago. They are great flashes, very reliable and very conservative with batteries too, I had one set in a Di866 for around 800 flashes without taking to long to recharge.

A couple of years ago I picked up a 430EX off AV Forums for £80. There are bargains out there.I would have a look for one of those as it is a dedicated flash for Canon. I have taken many shots I would not have got without it.
