Another fly

Great shot Scott, out of curiosity what is your set up?
 
Funny that at such magnification an insect as common as a fly can look stunning!

Thanks Dave. My set up for that shot was a nikon d700, 105mm micro lens with a 31mm extension tube hand held. No flash needed as was well lit with the sun. Just bumped up the ISO

Hi Peter. I actually got a few tips from this forum a few weeks ago. The first was to capture them and put them in the freezer (which I haven't tried yet) or to get them late afternoon or morning when they are resting. As long as you don't cast a shadow over them, you can get very close. As you can see, the second tip works! You don't even need to say cheese!

Totally agree, the colours and the detail are amazing! You wouldn't believe that they were probably sifting through dogs crap just before that shot!!
