Now i know what i am using my camera for landscapes , pets , a bit of wildlife etc.

I am now looking for another lens £300 tops i find the 70mm-200mm a bit restrictive taking some landscape shots and closer up pics of family and general photography so any suggestions this will be going with my D300.

Another vote for the non vc that has been looked after and is sharp.

Sorry Mr D. :D

Not experienced the VC version BUT loved the non VC version.

Can't see how it could be beaten for the price. I picked up a bargain. Couple of years ago in here for 168.

Paired with the d90 it was top notch.

TBH i haven't experienced the non VC lens so can't compare them but i'd rather have it than not have it. It's plenty sharp enough for me. Having said that though, i agree that at these focal lengths it isn't really necessary and the non VC is usually a few quid cheaper. Think i paid £231 for mine from DigitalRev.

Wide open at 50mm... Click through to Flickr for a better version.

Do NOT get covered in it...
