Just messing in the garden, the bee was taken with 55-250is and strawberry flower is 18-55is kit lens.

Other than the crop nothing has been done to them.

Pretty reasonable for a 1st attempt I'd say, and using the kit lens. As you've seen, the depth of field is petty small so care is needed to get the bit you want in focus.

I think the critters in the 2nd image might be pollen beetles?

The bee shot was more or less horizontal as the flower was drooping to the point of being horizontal, not top down as it might seem. I do understand what you are saying though looking at the front of the "subject" would be preferable.

No idea what the beatles are, i just thought they added a bit more interest?
