Just tried the FF on the moon, plenty of room for improvement.

Aye the detail on the craters on the right hand size is brilliant. I really like the shade creeping in at the top right,

That's a really nice shot, because I think that partial moon photos are more interesting than full moon shots. I think that you can capture a lot of very interesting detail along the border between sunlight and shadow, as you have done. It shows that the moon is a 3D object.

Thank you guys, I think I'll try again in two days time, as you say, more interesting. First keeper on the D700.
Lens used was the 300 f4 with a times 2 converter. Mirror lock-up but still had a little shake from my tripod. I have one of those pistol grips and not ideal for shots like this.
If you have any shots of the moon I would like to see them, now that I have a couple of days to myself.
