JC you have a problem with this shot, nothing major and nothing that cannot be addressed quite easily.
The bird is back lit, the main light source a rather bright Sun is behind the subject, which has burned out the detail on the back of the bird and put the main part that you can see in deep shadow.
Try and always have the Sun coming over your shoulder, or slightly from one side, so you are between the light and the subject, it would have improved this shot greatly.
I would also suggest 'Spot' metering rather than 'Evaluative' for these small subjects, as that is what you want exposed correctly.
