Another RIP - John Hedgecoe

RIP, I've also got a couple of his books, he had a way of explaining things that made them easy to understand.

Never heard of him before but a 17.5 tonne archive is a hell of a lot of prints and negatives. He must have been a prolific shooter.

Proper photographer: A Pentax and a cravat...

I read his first book when I was starting-out as well - I suspect many old-timers got their first instruction that way as well...

He was class :)

Best photography books I've read.

The guy who taught me more about togging in 100 pages of one of his books than any university lecturer could in 3 years - a great man

I was saddened to hear of his death yesterday on the radio. Great books, great photos, shame.

A Pentax and a cravat

50% of the way there.

Now where does one get a cravat and then where does one learn to tie it??????

Just get some paisley silk and wrap it round - the more foppish-looking, the better...
If you can scam a cord jacket with suede elbow patches with some wine stains and a few cigarette burns...well...

First photography books I bought were by him too; still got them... somehwnere...
