another shutter actuations question

after reading the thread about the new camera with 20 shots taken i thought i would have a look to see how many i have taken
i got my canon 500D in September and the lowest numbered pictures i can find are like 3450
now i had a canon g10 at that time which i sold once i got the 500D and the highest numbered images are in the 3400 area
do you think that it is possible that the 500D pictures have carried on from the g10 ones in some way

check the whole file name they should be different at the beginning

Yes, that's exactly what happens if you transfer a memory card from one Canon camera to another.

Surely not if you format the card in the camera as soon as you turn on for the first time?

If it's not been reformated from the 500D then it will probably just keep going regardless of which camera it's inserted into

No it doesn't, I've tried it myself to no avail.
