A different angle this time :D It's difficult to get a nice background pointing "inland" - one side there is a McDonalds, and the other there is what you see here, the back of a cinema and restaurant units :cautious:

One day I will get a shot of this ~1/2 mile long pier (2nd longest in the country so I'm told) with some Irish Sea in it :naughty:

Good detail, sky and its exposed well.
The pier gives me the impression that if you fell over you would slide off the end :D

Woodsy, would you mind pointing out exactly where you mean, just so I know for next time. I've had that comment before and didn't really know where to look :shrug:
 
Nice shot. I must get down to Southport sometime and grab a few shots.

The halo is the glowing effect around the contrasting edges of the railings and structures on the pier. It;s more noticable on the two towards the back of the frame.
 
I'm liking that one lots.

I think the BG works really well with the tone of the image you've set. (y)
