Another " what tripod" question

Hi all

I know this will have been asked a million times before, I've had a scoot round a few threads but thought I'd ask as just getting more confused !

My trusty Giottos MTL9351B has let me down , one of the leg locks fell apart so I have it stuck in one position, if I move it it falls apart again ( gaffer tape has got me through the last few days.Apparently Giottos no longer have a UK importer, I've mailed them in the USA to see if I can get any spares as that would be the ideal solution.
I have found the same tripod on fleabay , new a very sensible price which gives me 1 option .I like the tripod so have no qualms about getting the same one again.

Looking around there are just so many options it fries my brain !

I want something that won't cost a fortune -£200 absolute max ( don't need a head as I use a Sunway one), must have a removeable centre column if that makes sense, max weight 2kg's, must be as small as the Giottos when folded down.

User experience is what I'm after , can't beat advice from those who use a particular product so all suggestions welcome. My current thoughts are Benro, 3LT ,Gitzo or manfrotto - but even within in those brands the ranges seem huge

Cheers in advance for your help

Lynne

Doubt you'll get a gitzo for £200, maybe if you are very lucky ... I've had a 'frotto 055PROBX and it was very good albeit being ally a tad heavy (2.4Kg iirc). The 'frotto 190 models are lighter and just as good too and can be had within your budget. I sold my 55 and bought a feisol cf 'pod as I wanted to reduce weight and have to say I'm very impressed with it. But it doesn't come with a centre column, they are optional extras so will push you above budget. At literally a smidge over 1Kg though it is featherweight and still sturdy!

I cracked one of the leg locks on my giottos tripod few months ago, did a Google to find replacement locks but couldn't find any, I gave Giottos a call and the sent out free replacement leg lock few days latter.

Hi Gordon....the only number I can find is for China ? I've been told they are no longer importing to the UK ,would you still have the number you used as I've not had a reply to the email I sent. Many thanks :)
