I'm not entirely sure but I think I'm right when I say it's the camera's auto focus system not the lens that has trouble in low light and low contrast conditions.. The lens just contains a motor that does what it's told!
The lens is slower to focus than a lot of other lenses as it has a front element focussing system and it is a heavy lump of glass at the front. However I would think at f1.2 the lens stands a much better chance than say an f4 lens..
I would love to see a canon 85mm f1.2 mk3 with rear focus element!
