Since I got my canon 500d with the 28-135mm lens. When I view some images in photoshop, I sometimes get jagged edges on straight lines, such as yachts with rigging, etc, until I magnify the photo and then they become sharp. This Riley below is an example. However, when I crop and magnify in photoshop, as in the second picture, everything is pin sharp, although the magnification means the picture is too big for my screen.
Is it my computer, camera, lens, or is it just me??:bonk:

1. Jagged edges on the bonnet

2. Everything sharp but cannot see the whole picture on the screen

The effect is known as 'aliasing' and those jaggies are produced at certain image sizes where the pixels in the image don't quite fit over the pixels on your monitor. You wouldn't see the jaggies in a print from the image.

In short.... no problemo! :)

OK, thanks for that. I havent printed one yet. Just looks a bit odd at times though.

Cheers:thumbs:

Thanks Nick, I was wondering if a new monitor might solve the problem. I'll see what I can get away with before the wife finds out!!
