Any Advice

Welcome to TP:wave:

Best way is to get some photo's posted and have a look at what else is on here. Don't be afraid to ask questions but have a good use of the search facility as it mnay well save you a lot of time.

Most of all though enjoy the forum and taking pictures.

Hi, I can only see 2 shots posted there of a similar subject so not a lot to go on I'm afraid. They look like well exposed shots the only thing I could say is watch your composition where the white lines etc is intersecting with riders head, if you were able to get a little higher you could have placed him against a nice plain background. I know you can always achieve that in these situations but if you can it will look better IMO. They also don't look quite as sharp as they could be, not sure if this is down to focusing or panning technique, there are people here who are much more experienced in this type of subject than me who can give better advice. But I would say use a faster shutter speed to absolutely freeze the action, or a slightly slower one with panning to create more motion blur to the background and wheels for that dynamic look.

Hi Daryl, i've got some advice. Next time can you take your lens off my shoulder as it's still hurting!!

Seriously my advice is what I already told you at the race mate, slow the shutter speed down a touch to get some motion in the wheels and background. Sure you will end up with less keepers but the good one will have that extra something.

Shoot RAW, I think you are now but as we discussed that will allow you more freedom and choices as far as editing go.

I think you did a great job considering that you only had 200mm to play with and it was your first attempt at motorsports, look forward to seeing you at Silverstone for another go.

slow down a touch? nah slow down a bucketload - 1/1000 is far too fast you want to be at about 1/250ish.

Also do an image link to the shots, rather then posting the link as you will get no response from the majority. Composition is not bad, but it would be better with more empty space on the right and a tighter crop on the back - space to go into.
