O.K the Misses has just got herself a Blackberry 8520 through Virgin. I said to her I would setup her email but on reading into things a bit further it seems that Virgin do not support Blackberry BIS  Shame we didn't know before hand.

My first thoughts are, now - Why sell the poxy phone then :suspect:

Anyway, there are other ways round this so long as your near a WIFI, or Accessing through Opera mini .... and I just wanted to get some peoples ideas who perhaps already have a Blackberry, particularly on Virgin, how they setup.

There is a nice blog here:- http://robertastanford.blogspot.com/2008/12/howto-data-access-for-blackberry-8800.html how some guy set is up to use email and GMaps...etc nice  but then on my travels I found the Google Apps for mobile - http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/mobile.html anyone using this? and is it FREE, it doesn't seem to say don't want to install it all and then have to pay, pay, pay more.. :bang:

Would love some guidance peeps - no problem setting it up, just want to know what way to go. Seems it might be limited whatever route I choose.

FYI - Phone is on Virgin Network, she has a googlemail account and she'd like to get her emails from work as well BT Network (Just POP I imagine through Opera) - I can get network information for all of these since I set the office network up :D

Anyway - lets have some ideas. Sure theres some experts out there these have been around for a while now.

Thanks

This really defeats the idea of a BB in my opinion. I would ring Virgin and ask them What's the score before wasting loads of time with a work around. Maybe better to return the phone as not fit for purpose and get on a different network. The longer you leave it the less chance of getting the item refunded or replaced.
