Any Canon 70-200mm F/4 IS plus 1.4x TC users?

I recently borrowed a 70-200mm F/4, and have been so impressed with the IQ that I am set on buying one to replace my EF-S 55-250mm.

I am a little concerned that I will miss the extra 50mm at the long end, and would appreciate any opinions from people who have used the 70-200mm in conjuction with a 1.4x TC.

Does anyone here use this combo, and if so what are your opinions of IQ towords the 280mm end?

Heres a example from me.

Exif Sub IFD

* Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/250 second = 0.004 second
* Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 13/1 = F13
* Exposure Program = shutter priority (4)
* ISO Speed Ratings = 400
* Metering Mode = pattern / multi-segment (5)
* Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
* Focal Length = 280/1 mm = 280 mm

I admit I have not got the IS version, but that combo never comes off my camera :D Hope you decide soon :lol:

Thanks for the posts - the combo seem to work well together:). I will use it mainly for outdoor sports (son's football / daughter's netball), and the occasional Zoo trip. I pondered the 70-200mm F/2.8 and the 100-400 for some time, but prefer th compactness and better IS of the 70-200 F4.

Your Bird photos are great but are you saying they are taken with a 70 - 200 f4 non is ?

There is one for sale here and the guy is a top bloke so will have no problems with it. Definitely worth a look.

I actually want the IS version and will buy new. My wife is off to to New York soon, and she will pick one up for me at $1025 (£670 incl sales tax) from BH Photo. BH Photo is the generally the cheapest and most Kosher supplier in New York.
