I have a few days off work this week so I've decided to take a drive up to Glen Coe tomorrow (weather permitting) to blow the cobwebs off my camera. It's really a recon' sort of mission to familiarise myself with the area in the daytime in preparation for some sunsrise/sunset visits later on in the year.

Buachaille Etive Mor will obviously be high on my list of stopping places and some of the other locations through the Glen. I am not the fittest or youngest of togs so roughly how far off the road will I need to walk to get some of these wonderful iconic shots of Glen Coe. Any advice on stopping places even locations to enter in sat nav will be gratefully received.

I will be taking my Canon 40D, 17-85 IS lens along with Lee 0.3, 0.6 0.9 nd grads plus my 100-400L in case I am fortunate enough to catch a bit wildlife
and tripod. I don't want to go lugging other bits of kit that probably wont get used, nifty fifty, flash etc. I don't have any lenses with a wider angle.
Do you reckon this will be ample enough to take on the trip?

Sometime ago I did a location post for Glencoe, with suitable locations, maps and a bit of info on each of the locations.

I put them all together in a pdf file, you can download it here (around 1.5mb):

Hope it helps

This is better than I expected, thank you very much Les, I remember seeing a similar one you done ages ago at another place I won't mention :nono: I spent ages there looking for it but you must have taken it with you when you parted company. I'll print these out and take them with me...thanks Les

You can Google Street View every inch of the road through the glen and the side roads too.

If you fancy taking the scenic route then head to pitlochry and then head for tummel bridge along the B8109, I was up there the other week and it was a stunning drive.

I went to Glen Cos years ago - the view of the Loch from the Pap of Glencoe was amazing, but a bit of a hike.
