er a cheaper alternative that is :) I had been looking at the Yongnuo MC-36 C3 but appear out of stock at Amazon with no indication of when available again.

Basically just looking for one that does a similar job has a cord fitting suitable for a Canon 70D and preferably with an on/off switch .. any recommendations welcome

Next I ask for the moon

You can find ones that look identical, but not branded Canon on eBay. I actually brought the Canon one new for about £80 on eBay though.

Thank you for that.. it was the fitting I was a little unsure about as I didn't know if canon has revamped the connecter ( as they do !!) and was looking to se if anyone had hands on experience of using an alternative.

Good heads up about e-bay though I will keep looking until something comes up. regards

All the cheaper ones I have used from Ebay do not fit in the jack as well as the Canon remote. Do the job, but very annoying when you press and nothing happens

Both my daughter and I ended up buying the Canon version, bought secondhand to avoid the crazy price for a switch and wire

From experience I only buy Canon accessories for my Canon camera. That goes without saying for batteries. I brought a used original battery for my 7D here http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/ They have lots of good used equipment, plus new gear.

Thanks for the input.. after some consideration and an e-mail to Yongnuo (whose wireless triggers I have used for a while with no issues) I have decided to take a punt on the Yongnuo MC-36 C3 at £14.00 delivered free from e-bay
