Free printable lens hoods for your dslr lens are they any good?

Not tried this yet but doing so this weekend

It's a novel idea, but to me a lens hood is there as much to protect the front element, as it is to prevent flare etc.

Not something I'll be using!

I've designed a 3d printable plastic one for my Sigma 70-210 after I left the proper one on location somewhere.

Rather than spend £1000`s on a 3d printer you could just visit ebay 3quid boom job done

Had an accident with my camera,the lens hood save the day for my lens,so not for going to stick to proper solid ones.

Nah, shapeways take care of 3d printing far better than any home unit can.
