Any Soldiers/Fireman/Policeman on here??

Just so you lot know ... if we had a polishing championship, for that intimate deep black glass like finish ... Id spank the arse of the lot of you, in both finish and speed ...especially hacker.

...and you ex officers stand no chance, just don't even take part Id suggest....

Someone from the cavalry would come second ..the rest off you a distant runner up...

Bring it on, you Gobby Crow...

Infanteers rule, you know this - you used to dream of being as good as me...:D

Your missus tells me you still hoard photos of infantry soldiers in a box under the bed and cry yourself to sleep at night 'cause your boots weren't up to scratch...

Have to agree about Ruperts though - most can't even dress themselves let along perform basic admin tasks like ironing and polishing...

Some of us have a very nice collection of dresses, thank you very much! :p :D

There's a liquid floor polish we used to put on as a final coat in my days back in the 70s. Damned if I can remember what it was though. It was magic stuff. Turned a respectable shine in to a mirror. Maybe somebody else can remember.

Clear

I meant as a Rupert in response to : "most can't even dress themselves"

You wouldn't catch me dead in a cabbage hat!

:D I have no doubts Mark ...

Goes off to look for resent photo of Mark in a jesters hat...

That sort of below-the-belt talking really takes me back, lol ...Now how does it go...

...Ah yes got it now...

Your missus never mentions you at all ... I guess its because she’s got her mouth full most of the time though...

And my gay mate stole all your infantry photos mate .... I shudder to think what he’s doing with them....

:D

You so right about Ruperts though ... they bite way to easy as well. lol.

Ps Kings troop polishers mate ... Pah! Bring it on, ..although of course I haven't got any boots any more and its not as if we're going to have a quick championship during a meet you might get to and I ani't coming over their to prove my point either.. But I guess you have three stripes so maybe you would come second...I’ll give you that ...aren’t I nice. :D

Not since I told that TA Lt Col in Afghan she was a big bag of useless fluff, I'm not.

Retiring as a full-screw...:D

Though I do still have my ammo boots as couldn't bear to throw them in the bin...

As for the rest? **** 'em all save eight: six for pallbearers and two to beat the drums...

I heard that you're still yelling 'Deeeeetachments FRONT" each morning! :D

Sorry bit late to the party but ... As an ex soldier from the late sixties through to the 80's I think many of you missed a trick. Morello Futura 2000 was the best of the best in shortcuts in regards to bulled boots. I was on many parades including Horse Guards, Queens Birthday etc and many military tattoos including Edinburgh, Royal Tournament, Berlin and Colchester to name a few. Sometimes we didn't have time to redo our boots in between performances. Klear wasn't too bad, it had a bad blue tinge and Dual wasn't much better. However we discovered Morello which with practice was incredibly hard to beat. We discovered it in a US army PX originally. If you google Morello Futura 2000 you will see we were not the only ones. It is still available and still used by serving soldiers I know.

It's sh1t. It's no better than Klear and incredibly lazy soldiering. Besides which, any decent RSM will spot it in a nanosecond.

I had the very nervous honour of doing the final polish of my FIL boots before they but were on his body and with his number one uniform on, we held his funeral. He was then cremated in them. We were fortunate that one of his best friends was the funeral director.

One has one's man attend to such things! :p :D
That reminds me of a conversation I had with someone when I was shooting an army event, I asked a guy how he got such a great shine on his boots
He pointed to another guy and said "He does them"
"Really?"
"Yes, we're professional soldiers, so we specialise. He does the boots, the guy next to him does the ironing and the guy behind him does the buckles and medals"
"Sounds good, so what do you do?"
"I'm the sergeant, so I do the complaining"
