Any suggestions for the best type of AA battery for Canon battery grip cartridge.

Hi, pretty dull topic, but I've always left the AA battery cartridges in the box, but figure I may as well lug it around as a spare on important jobs - what type of AA technology will give me the longest/best performance in the grip. I use Eneloops for flash, do none re-chargeable batteries last longer?

Yes per Peter, use the Eneloops you've got, I keep a packet of non rechargeable ones as emergency spares if I think I might need them (chances are not) or have a 2nd set of rechargeable ready...
 
After finding myself with a flat battery one night I've put eneloop xx in the spare grip for my 5D3. Given their ability to hold a charge for a long time I'm hoping I never find myself in the same situation again.

And the weathers been crap since that night so still haven't taken what I planned.
