Any Tri-Grip users?

I'm going to try and do a lot more outdoor natural light portraits and been looking at reflectors. I really like the look/feel of the lastolite tri-grip/tri-flip but are they just an expensive novelty or are they really useful if shooting alone with no one else to hold a reflector?
