Personally I wouldnt, cant imagine the images that come from it are that great but thats what you get for the convenience. It also wont AF at the long end?

For 400 quid you can get some epic primes which are just as much walk around as a superzoom imo?
 
Being an owner of the lens (Nikon fit) I can say that mine does auto-focus throughout its range and from a lot of reviews I read there isn't a lens of this type that could compare to the sharpness you'd get from a set of prime lenses... but the whole point of an all-in-one like this is the convenience, I decided to get one for this reason and will be getting other lenses for other occasions - they all have their own role.

I have a Nikon 55-200 (not relevant for yourself I know) and I think it can produce a bit sharper images but I wanted an all in one for general walk-abouts and the images it has given so-far are fine. I am going for a walk with it tomorrow it give it a bit more of a trial.

seems to be better overall than the Tamron equiv. but it's heavier.

(& it will AF on a Sony, Canons limited to f5.6 for AF?)
 
Thank you guys for your input. It would seem that the downside is that it is a bit heavy, however Im a strong little chap so that is not an issue :) but the upside seems to be that it gives a good IQ and is fairly sharp considering its focal range. I want it for general pictures and have a small selection of others for specific uses. Once again, thanks :thumbs:
