anyone want to trade a 1DIV strap for a 500D??? :gag:

Can I have your 1DIV strap please so

A. I can attach it to my 400D that is forsale, I might just get more money for it

B. who ever buys it will not be frowned upon and not spoken too because they only have a 400D

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I kinda wish the Canon straps didn't advertise what model they were attached to. Theonly reason I use them is because they do the job. I am, as some may no, one of those odd type of students who likes to save money and part of that is by buying only things I really need. I don't find the camera straps uncomfortable because I usually have my coat on and the collar of that cushions my neck plenty.

To the OP: A bit of a silly outlook if you ask me. There are plenty of photographers with cameras that are considered "consumer/amateur" types that produce absolutely fantastic results. You only have to look on this forum to know that...

nicely edited but not before you were quoted
can i ask you why did you sell your 400d
was it because nobody would talk to you :bonk:

I'm more likely to talk to somebody who's got a 5D in a street than 400D, as there's a higher chance they really enjoy photography.

My God, what a compete ploker you are. So you are telling us that unless you own a 5Dmk2 you do not really enjoy photography? Are you also saying that ALL Nikon. Pentax and Sony users don’t like taking photos? People still using film are just wasting there time?

Maybe if you don’t have anything constructive to say in this forum, you should keep your snobbish and ridicules comments to yourself.

What an elitist comment!!!! Utter tripe. So you wouldn't talk to me as I have a 400D and not a 5D (no loss though it seems)? Why should that make them enjoy photography more??? Some people cant afford to spend their money on 5D's, but it doesnt mean I dont enjoy photography as much as ANY 5D owner!

Thread fail.

...Actually there is a serious point that if I am out seriously taking pictures I want to concentrate on that and getting the images I want. If I am in that frame of mind, I don't enjoy being disturbed...
I'd go along with that.

I feel there is no point of trying to redeem my comment, so carry on slating

You'd be suprised at the amount of spoilt middle class kids in hexham getting 400, 450 and 500d's for christmas there are very few who would spend time reading any form of photography book. I'm not really referring to people on talk photography, clearly if you are in here in the first place you have interest.

We cant slate you, you own a 5D :shake:

Not only do I have a 400D, I have bought Jessops own brand filters before, which must make me a heathen!

EDIT - Actually their filters arn't bad! Neither is my camera whilst we're at it ;)

Perhaps there's a market for straps with custom embroidered logos like "P*ss Off I'm taking photos" or "I'm an enthusiast not a terrorist"

OR 'don't talk to me-I haven't got a 5DMkII'

FIXED!

david you have been into photography since you were 12,what are you now 17 and you have had your 5d mkII for how long
badge snobbery at its best

OR 'don't talk to me-I haven't got a 5D'

No, I only accept 5dmkII's actually

Try not to get too wound up, I've just made an assumption that people who have no interest in photography probally wouldn't buy a 1DmkIV

Thats so funny

I started out with a sony cybershot. Then moved on to a Canon 350D. Photography has been my life for as long as I remember. I'm graduating with a BA hons Photography degree this year, but because I have something less than a 5D....I'm not that into it really.

I think we made the assumption that you regard those with 'lesser' cameras as being less interested in photography than those that have top end kit, as thats what you said!

But I have to say, your camera bag is a little sparse for a serious photographer! Dont get me wrong, I'm not annoyed, more amazed and amused.

Do photographers who are out and about really talk to each other?

Maybe I'm a miserable sod but when I go out to do some photography I do it to get away from folk! If I'm concentrating on a shot the last thing I want is some random coming to talk to me!

I reckon us grumps need a custom TP strap which has 'b****r off I'm busy' printed on it in bigger letters than the TP logo :)

Well a talk photography strap would be handy, if I saw one of those I'd come up and speak to you, however I would also expect a slap

Ah right, I think I get you. If you see anyone with a 400/450/500D, you just assumed they're spoilt middle class kids and treat them with the disdain that they obviously deserve. Of course, if I see any 17 year olds with a 5D, I should obviously assume that they are spoilt upper middle class kids in hexham getting 400, 450 and 500d's for christmas, very few of which would spend time reading any form of photography book, and treat them with even more disdain.

Glad we got that sorted.

Im waiting for it... I think I'll ask some of the people who I'm referring to what their thoughts are on photography and I'll let you know what the response is. Also being ignorant I just thought that people who upgrade camera's may have same levels of enthusiasm as I do, but apparently people don't upgrade gear on TP despite thousands of threads regarding upgrades...

Well as someone with C&G's I certainly wouldn't stop to talk with someone as far down the alphabet as B&A's. :p

Bill, there's little I can do, I may aswell have a laugh

I'm one of those people you referred to, want to know my opinion?

Are you on crack? Of course people on here upgrade. Doesnt mean they are more enthusiastic though? I've been wanting my 50D / 7D for the last 18 months but financially I have other commitments, but I've made sure I've got the most out of what I already own - thats what an enthusiastic photographer does.

Exactly how does a student afford a 5DmkII? You've referenced spoilt kids owning 400D's, I cant help think pot and kettle.

A BA Hons is nothing Sarah, but not owning a 5D something, well, how can you live with yourself :bang:

Only joking, congrats on all your hard work and the BA Hons, you've done well :clap:

Do you have to be a snob to own and use a 5D or does it just help you look down on others, what does it matter what gear you have?
if you hava a camera you enjoy photography right? :annoyed:

This is just the kind of snobery I hate on gear orientated forums! :suspect:

I'm not fussed by gear, I just said theres a "higher chance" they will enjoy photography, I was just trying to think of a reason, as looking on TV to see what press and other large companies are using sounds a little sad

depends how much said student likes to eat + how much they like working :D

I started with a 400d kit and tamron 70-300 now have my current kit list + a dye sub and by the end of the summer a set of lights
